The Astonishing World of Trees
Near Chicago, IL

Bio: The natural world is an altruistic and generous benefactor. In addition to life-sustaining support, Mother Nature provides visual metaphors and chromatic cues for meditation and self-reflection. I strive to use my camera as a decoder of those metaphors and cues, which are communicated through patterns, shapes, textures, structure, hues and colors. It is my hope that the captured images also entice observers to pause, ponder and assess the significance of the symbiotic relationships, rhythm, synchronicity, and order universally shared with all inhabitants of our precious planet Earth. The Astonishing World of Trees is the new umbrella for an ongoing environmental art project, The Beauty and Wonder of Trees Project, which promotes and fosters tree stewardship. The project is geared toward children and youth in grades K-8, as well as their grown-ups. Images from this project have won awards and have been included in juried exhibitions across the United States, including the Studio Door Gallery in San Diego, California; the Steamboat Springs Arts Council Gallery in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Gallery 7 in Joliet, Illinois. Most recently, the work was featured as part of the Kalamazoo (Michigan) Arts Council Art Hop (April 2017); for two months at the Glen Vista Gallery located in the Kalamazoo Nature Center; the Parkview Hills Community Gallery, and the Crooked Tree Arts Center and Gallery in Petoskey, Michigan. Two images recently were included in the book Up Close and Personal, as part of the juried exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont. I am a member of Pentatura Artists; the Oak Park Art League; the North American Nature Photography Association, and the Women Eco Artists Dialog.
